I show you around my sewing workshop
I have been working from home for over ten years. It is therefore essential to have a place dedicated to my professional activity and well-appointed to make my work efficient and enjoyable. I have been living in two rooms on the ground floor of my house for two years now. I have spent a lot of time thinking about the layout of my workshop, now it is time to present it to you.
We start with the sewing area. These 10m2 are perfectly optimized for sewing!
The centerpiece is my cutting table. It's a homemade construction with Kallax shelves from Ikea. They are mounted on a structure that allows for a perfect height of 95 cm. I no longer break my back when I sew!
I added a custom-made plywood board that is fixed with brackets, and a self-healing cutting mat that measures 90 cm wide by 1.80 m long. It is clearly an investment but this mat is really practical for cutting my fabric with a rotary cutter.

The other advantage of these shelves is that the cutting table also serves as storage. I organize my fabrics, my threads, some patterns... I added bars and hooks to always have my favorite sewing accessories at hand.

Behind, I store my patterns with hooks on a shelf hanging on the wall. I accumulate a lot of them, I should think about doing a little sorting...

Next to it, I have the dressmaking mannequins that I use to develop my patterns in the entire size range. The first mannequin corresponds to size 40, the second to size 52. The last mannequin is adjustable, I use it more to present my creations than to make patterns.
Across the room is the sewing machine and serger area. Each machine has its own base to easily move from one station to another. I have been sewing for many years with the Janome Skyline S7 and the Babylock Imagine.

Finally, my ironing board and steam generator are always out. And I also keep my accessories like the ironing board and the ironing pad there.

The layout of these 3 spaces (cutting, sewing and ironing) is really perfect for sewing efficiently.
The second room is mainly used for working on my computer. I answer your messages, prepare my content, develop my patterns and manage the online store.
This is also the space where I store all the creations that I have sewn. I am clearly lacking space there after ten years of creating sewing patterns!
My library is full of sewing books, whether it's my works published by Mango or pattern-making books.

Since I moved into this office, I have also invested in a large format printer. As I model all my patterns on the computer. I can then print them out and simply sew the toiles when I create new patterns.

I feel great in this workshop! It's always a pleasure to open the door in the morning to come and work.
And don't forget that "Rome wasn't built in a day"... This workshop is the result of ten years of sewing in a professional setting. Each purchase was made gradually and allowed me to improve my comfort in sewing as I went along.
I hope you enjoyed the visit :-) I wish you to create a sewing space in which you can flourish.
