Sewing tutorial: sew adjustable straps for the camisole pattern

The thin strap camisole is a new sewing pattern to create your custom dress. In the pattern, the straps are thin and simple. But depending on your body shape or your desire for a more or less plunging neckline, you may need adjustable straps. Here's how to do it with this super simple sewing tutorial in pictures.

Material

You will need the fabric and haberdashery needed to make your custom creation with the camisole top and a bra accessory kit . The straps in the pattern are 1 cm of the finished width, so we choose a 10 mm kit. Don't forget to adapt the width of the kit according to the width of your straps.

Recycling tip: if you get rid of your used bras, remember to recycle the accessories ;)

Pattern

Print the straps pattern with margins to your size. Extend it by 16 cm and keep its width.

Assembly

Make the 2 elongated straps as indicated in the pattern instructions and turn them right side out. Cut each strap into two parts: a small 5 cm long link and the rest forms a large strap.

Chapter 4 step 1

With the right side of the outside front facing you, place the large straps in the middle of the two peaks. They are facing down.

Chapter 4 step 5

Form loops with the small links and slide the rings into them. Place the loops and rings on each outer back, loop side down.

On the large straps at the front, slide the "8".

This is how to position the "8" on the right side of the front straps.

Once the exterior and lining, as well as the fronts and backs are assembled, pass the front straps through the corresponding back ring. Be careful not to twist your strap.

Slide the strap back into the "8", from front to back, under the first strap passage.

Make a fold inwards and secure it with a hand seam.

Your adjustable straps are already finished. Here is the result on the right side!
