Sewing tutorial: transform the “Oui” wedding dress pattern into a little black lace top
My latest sewing book " Party Dressing " offers patterns for life's beautiful moments. It contains two wedding dress models, including the "Oui" dress that I decided to hack today to make it more compatible with everyday life.
The "Oui" dress is a long dress with a small train. It has a lace back closed by a row of buttons. Its V-neckline and cap sleeves are also highlighted with lace. It has a volume fitted at the chest and flared at the waist and hips. It is fitted with a flat belt.
This is a pattern that allows you to discover sewing techniques specific to wedding dresses with lace work, lining a dress and installing a buttonhole hem.
Sewing patterns are inherently versatile, and I like to give them multiple lives by interpreting them with very different fabrics. The Oui dress can therefore become something other than a wedding dress ;) Today, I'm explaining how I adapted the pattern to sew a black top with a lace back and sleeves.
CHANGE THE NECKLINE
SHORTEN AT TOP
For the front, locate the waistline indicated on the pattern. The hem is 22 cm below the waistline at the center front and 21 cm below the waistline for the side line.
The hem line is perpendicular to the center front and the side line. Draw the hem in a slight curve.
Adjust these measurements based on your height and desired length.
On the back, trace the center back parallel to the straight grain. On the pattern, it curves to form the train of the dress which is not useful for the top.
Measure 24 cm from the top of the piece at the center back. Draw a perpendicular. Go up 1 cm at the side line and draw the hem in a slight curve.
As with the front, adjust these measurements based on your height and desired length.

For assembly, follow the pattern instructions in the book. I simply removed the invisible zip in the middle of the back because it is not useful for putting on my little top. For the rest, there is no difference ;) Happy sewing!

Vos explications sont très claires. Je n’ose pas poster de photos mais vous êtes une source d’inspiration.
